Random Thoughts:

Now that I am retired, you’d think that I post more on this site, and I intended to but my laziness gets in the way. Not that I don’t jot down various story ideas on a regular basis, which I do and today I will share those random thoughts with you.

One of these thoughts is in the form of an idea for a game show:

Celebrity Bowel Movements:

The premise is: four celebrities are recruited to provide 3D video of their first bowel movement of the day (smell optional), the names and photos (in case one doesn’t know who the “celebrity” is, something that happens to me quite often) of each celebrity are displayed, as well as the usual diet (no corn allowed) of each celebrity, thus providing a clue to what the texture of the BM might be. The contestants then have to match each BM with the celebrity they think it belongs to, the one with the most matches wins the prize (perhaps a lifetime supply of laxative) and gets to clean the celebrity bathroom. If the the show is on a pay channel, it could be titled “Celebrity Shit Show.” To be followed by “Celebrity Farts.” Still working on the acquisition and containment methods.

Another random thought that popped into my head was remembering Mr. Valentine or “Mags” my High School Social Studies teacher and a good one at that. I say this because Mr. Valentine had a habit of taking the class to the theatre building on campus and watch whatever movie was playing, spent an entire week watching “El Cid” with Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren , which is about an 11th century warrior/hero who drove the Moors from Spain. Not sure what that had to do with Social Studies, but it was a pretty good movie, long, but that’s why we got to spend the entire week watching it.

Mr. Magoo:

One of my all time favorite shows as a kid was “The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo” which are not the cartoon shorts of the wealthy, nearsighted older man and his old fashioned car, but the 1964 – 65 season where he played himself “acting” in productions of various classic stories, such as William Tell, Gunga Din, Moby Dick, The Three Musketeers, Snow White (he played all the dwarfs) Mid Summer Nights Dream (as Puck) Robin Hood and many others. While I was too young to have been allowed to stay up to watch the original run, however I was fortunate enough to be able to catch the early 70’s rebroadcast on Sunday mornings. I attribute my interest in history in part to these shows. Especially the precursor to this series, Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol, my favorite musical version of the Dickens story and one of my favorite memories as a kid, the entire family sitting on our large couch watching the show.

Last of the “old timers”:

My 93 year old Aunt Olya passed away last month and my 30 something year old kids and I attended the grave side service at the Russian Orthodox Monastery in the Pennsylvania and I didn’t have to carry the coffin, which was the first time that has happened since I was old enough to be a Pallbearer. During the 8 hour round trip I had plenty of time to think about what this meant and it dawned on me that now I, my sister and brother are the old timers in the family.
